About me:

Judy Hakiel-Calcaterra, Licensed Mental Health Therapist & Qualified Supervisor in theState of Florida

Hello, I'm Judy Hakiel-Calcaterra, a licensed mental health therapist and a qualified supervisor for registered interns in mental health counseling and marriage & family therapy in the state of Florida. I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, a Bachelor's degree in Sociology, and a Minor in Retail and Accounting.

Experience That Matters

With extensive experience working across a variety of settings, including outpatient centers for individuals with chronic mental illness, private treatment centers specializing in dual diagnosis (substance abuse & mental health), as well as State & Federal prisons, halfway houses, and residential facilities, I bring a comprehensive approach to therapy. My experience allows me to offer a unique, well-rounded perspective to clients facing a range of challenges.

Why I Chose Therapy

I am often asked why I chose to become a therapist. The short answer? "I love people, and I love to see the change." From a young age, I have been passionate about helping others, and I have a unique gift for creating a safe, supportive environment where people feel comfortable sharing their emotions, challenges, and aspirations.

Whether you're seeking support for mental health challenges, navigating complex life transitions, or looking to explore deeper aspects of your emotional well-being, I am here to guide you through the process. My goal is to help you foster change and achieve your mental health goals.

Therapeutic Approach: Trust, Support, and Guidance

As a dedicated therapist and counselor, my primary responsibility is to listen, understand, and acknowledge what you’re experiencing. I work hard to build a foundation of trust with each client—creating a safe, supportive space that fosters genuine communication. My goal is not only to listen but to guide you in identifying the path you want to take for your mental well-being.

While I am not a magician and there are no quick fixes, I am here to provide consistent support, helping you navigate through life’s challenges and move toward the direction that aligns with your goals. Together, we will work on strategies that best suit your unique needs, helping you create positive, lasting change.

A Personal Note

Outside of my professional life, I cherish spending time with my husband and our 12-year-old daughter. Whether it's traveling, cooking, or staying active through exercise, I believe in maintaining a well-rounded and fulfilling lifestyle. Volunteering is also a big part of who I am, as giving back to my community feeds my soul. While my daughter was in elementary school I had the privilege of serving many different positions in the PTO organization.  I’ve been a Girl Scout leader for the past seven years, guiding my daughter’s troop along their own paths of growth.
