About me:
Judy Hakiel-Calcaterra, LMHC, Qualified Supervisor
My name is Judy Hakiel-Calcaterra and I am a Licensed Mental Health Therapist & a qualified supervisor for registered interns for mental health & marriage and family therapy in the state of Florida. I have a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, Bachelor's degree in Sociology and a Minor in Retail and Accounting.

Throughout my experience as a therapist, I have seen a variety of clients. My experience came from working in outpatient centers with chronic mentally ill, private treatment centers with duel diagnosis (substance & mental health), State & Federal prisons , halfway houses and residential facilities.

I am questioned often "how and why did you choose to become a therapist?" Short answer “I love people, and I love to see the change." I've always had a passion for people. I have always had that gift, that gift that people just want to share their feelings, their needs, their complaints, their problems and their goals and dreams.
As a therapist/counselor my responsibility is to understand, to acknowledge, to hear what you are saying. I build a foundation of trust between myself and my clients that I hope they have never found anywhere else. I help my clients follow a direction and a path that they would like to be on. As your therapist, I am not a magician and I don't have a simple solution or a simple suggestion but I will be here to support you and help guide you.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling, cooking, exercising and spending time with my husband and almost 10 year old daughter. I also enjoy volunteering in a variety of ways. Giving back to my community feeds my soul. I have been the PTO president at my daughter's school and I also have been a girl scout leader for the past 4 years to my daughter's troop.
